The Asahikawa International Committee (AIC) was established on October 4th, 1990.
The AIC's purpose is to promote international activities and broaden international understanding among this citizens of Asahikawa through various events and activities by using the cultural, social and economic resources of this city.

To provide a language club for children on a regular basis.
English Club (conversation class) "Hello Kids" at several places in the city.

To provide regular language lessons for citizens and non-Japanese.
Chinese, Korean, Russian, Japanese Classes

To hold lectures and parties with the theme of "International Exchange".

Annual Events:

"Friendship Party"
A casual party for Japanese and non-Japanese citizens.

"Cooking Classes"
Those who are from foreign countries, living in or around Asahikawa, teach how to cook their own countries' dishes.

"Let's Make Snow Sculptures"
To take part in the Asahikawa Winter Festival by making snow sculptures.

"The International Student/Resident Exchange Party"
To broaden exchange and friendship between local citizens and Asahikawa's international community.

and homestay host families).
