There are many unique interactive
animal viewing facilities here at Japan's
northernmost zoo.
Our exhibition policy:
To provide an environment where each species can use their abilities
and
a space where each animal can relax.
Here is an introduction of some exhibits made based on this policy.

A spotted seal is an animal that swims to the
surface in a vertical direction. There is a vertical water tank so that
it can make use of that characteristic. They have interest in the
audience and pass the tunnel from themselfs. |

Like this, they can come and go freely from the
tunnel to the large pool during the water. The tunnel is connected with the large pool in top and bottom. |

A penguin swims as if flying in the water. There
is a tunnel in the water to show that way of flying. |

Do you know the way that a polar bear swims? There
is a big water tank to see how they swim. |

A polar bear attacks the seal which comes out
from under the drift ice. There is a capsule to experience a seal's
viewpoint. |

A Borneo orangutan is an animal that lives in trees. There is a rope at a height of 17m so that that ability can be shown. |
